Pause and Notice
Ask yourself: What am I feeling?
When you feel something—sadness, anger, anxiety, joy—pause and name it:

“I’m feeling sad.”
“I’m feeling tense.”
Naming brings the feeling out of the swirl of thoughts and into clear awareness.

🫀 2. Locate It in the Body
Ask yourself: Where do I feel this?
Maybe your chest feels tight, your stomach heavy, your jaw clenched.
Just notice it, like an observer. You’re not trying to fix it—only to see it.

🌊 3. Allow It to Be
Ask yourself: Can I allow myself to feel this, just as it is?
Feelings are like waves — they rise, crest, and fall. Try not to push the feeling away (“I shouldn’t feel this”) or cling to it (“I’ll never get over this”). Instead, breathe and say internally:

“This is what sadness feels like.”
“I can allow this to move through me.”

👂 4. Listen to the Emotion
Ask yourself: If this emotion could speak, what would it say?
Every feeling, when fully felt, has something to teach us. It may soften, shift, or uncover what lies beneath — grief under anger, tenderness under frustration. You don’t have to force it or figure it out. Just give it space and listen.

❤️‍🩹 5. Understand Its Need
Ask yourself: What need is it signaling to me?
Emotions often surface to point us toward what needs care — rest, connection, safety, honesty, or comfort. Simply recognizing the need begins to ease the feeling.

➡️ 6. Express It
Ask yourself: What step can I take to meet that need?

Emotions need an outlet:
• Take it to God in prayer.
• Talk to someone safe.
• Journal or voice-note what you’re feeling.
• Move your body—walk, stretch, cry, breathe.

Expression helps the feeling move through you, rather than stay stuck inside.

🌿Feeling is how healing begins.

In this episode, Carissa dives into the “silent spaces” of life—the dark nights of the soul—where God seems distant but is quietly at work. This message offers hope and perspective for anyone navigating spiritual crises, life transitions, or periods of waiting, showing that these seasons are not the end—but the beginning of restoration and new life.

In this episode, we explore the importance of understanding the things that are left unsaid. Our ability to perceive these non-verbal messages is called attunement. Just as a tuning fork helps adjust a musical instrument, we need to attune ourselves to what others are communicating on a deeper level. By attuning to body language, emotions, behavioral patterns, and relational cues, we can understand far more than what is being explicitly communicated. This leads to those around us feeling more understood and loved.

The past is a wilderness of horrors.” Scripture often advises the same, minus the whole “wilderness of horrors” part. That’s because looking back can take our eyes off what God has for our future, not to mention the pitfalls our flesh can fall into: reliving past hurts, returning to harmful situations or relationships, etc. Yet there are also times in Scripture and in our walk with God when looking back is a good thing. It helps us remember the times we saw God’s faithfulness in our lives, his comfort, care, and protection. In this roundtable podcast, Carissa, Jeff, and Julie will discuss both the good and bad parts of looking back..

How can a man survive for three days and nights inside the belly of a fish? And what’s up with the Ninevites repenting so quickly and so thoroughly? After the fish story, this seems like another logical barrier to taking Jonah seriously. But when we enter the polytheistic world of the Ninevites, it makes a little more sense. And after that, when we remember what Jesus said of their repentance, it not only makes more sense, but it’s also a gut-check moment for Christians.
